TurfLab

How it works

A plan you can follow, not a pile of advice.

Three steps from “my lawn looks bad” to a seasonal plan with dates, quantities, and reasons.

  1. Step 1

    Tell us about your lawn

ZIP code, lawn size, grass type (or "not sure"), sun exposure, soil, irrigation, and the problems you care about. The wizard is progressive: you can see useful results before creating an account.

    • No exact home address required
    • Multiple lawn zones supported later
    • Skip anything you do not know
  2. Step 2

Get a plan for your season

A prioritised list of tasks with realistic date windows, quantities, and a plain-language explanation of why each task matters. Rules are versioned, reviewed, and aware of your grass type and region.

    • Dates based on your climate, not a generic calendar
    • Product labels and local rules take precedence
    • Uncertainty is shown, not hidden
  3. Step 3

    Track what you actually do

Mark tasks complete, skip or defer them, and record applications. Your history and photos make next season's plan better — and stop you from repeating a treatment by accident.

    • Treatment history stays yours
    • Photo timeline for real progress
    • Reminders are opt-in

What stays free

  • All nine lawn calculators, with the formula shown
  • A basic seasonal plan without creating an account
  • Reviewed educational guides
  • An account to save results when you want one

What we will not do

  • Invent reviews, prices, stock, or "live" integrations
  • Put a signup wall in front of a useful calculator result
  • Recommend a chemical without checking the label and your history
  • Sell your lawn data or email address

Common questions

Do I need an account?

Not to use the tools or see a basic plan result. An account is for saving a lawn, keeping history, and returning to your plan later.

Is TurfLab available now?

The free calculators and the free seasonal planner are live. Accounts, saved plans, and the dashboard are still being built. Nothing is described as live before it works.

Does it work where I live?

Content starts with cool-season lawns in Pennsylvania and similar climates. The underlying model covers regions, hardiness zones, and grass types nationally, and we expand region by region.

Is this professional advice?

No. TurfLab is educational. Product labels and local law control how a product may be used. For difficult problems, a soil test or a qualified local professional is the right next step.

What will it cost?

The core tools and a basic plan are free. Paid options are planned for later, with pricing published before anyone is charged. See the pricing page for the current status.
